LIBERAL PARTY CALLS ON ACTING MAYOR TO RESIGN

Liberal Party Chairman Mihai Ghimpu said at the Monday’s press conference that the appointment of a person without the necessary experience as city mayor led to crisis in Chisinau Primaria.

“The DP appointed Silvia Radu in contradiction with the law in order that she to promote party interests, but got a directly opposed result”, Ghimpu said.

According to him, the situation in the capital will keep worsening till the DP will be in power, while Dorin Chirtoaca, legally elected by the people, will stay under arrest. Vlad Plahotniuc [DP Chairman] should finally understand that the administration of the Primaria should not be conducted on the basis of the “purchase and sale” principle. More than this, Plahotniuc has to take into account the results of the November 19 referendum – Chisinau citizens expressed their opinion and Chirtoaca should be reinstated in the post.

LP Deputy Chairman Valeriu Munteanu touched upon the topic of Chisinau Christmas tree.

“Radu has not answered yet if she has necessary documents for cutting tree in the yard of former kindergarten. I insist that the tree was cut down without authorization and repairing the damage, caused to the environment”, he said.

According to Munteanu, Chisinau has become the single European capital where the Christmas tree was not installed in time – by December 1. While the occurred scandal looks highly negatively from the side of European partners of Moldova. All this are proofs of weakness of the DP city administration.

“The tree in Chisinau downtown was installed only in the interest of oligarchs, but not the people of Moldova”, Munteanu concluded.
