LIBERALS DEMAND FROM GABURICI EXPLANATIONS CONCERNING HIS EDUCATION

The parliamentary faction of the Liberal Party has demanded from Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici articulate explanations about his education and diplomas. At the Friday’s plenary meeting of the Parliament, the Liberals staged a noisy protesting when Gaburici was reporting economics. And the Socialists filed with the Parliament a draft Resolution on a vote of no confidence in the ‘minister without a diploma’.

Liberals fixed posters with inscription “Diploma?” on their work places, thus demanding a clear answer from the minister concerning his education. This question was cried out in the session room several times today.

Chiril Gaburici was appointed Minister of Economy and Infrastructure in early January. He was Moldova’s Prime Minister in March – June 2015. Then, he had to tender resignation due to the scandal that broke out over the authenticity of his education documents. On the parliamentary opposition’s demand, the Prosecutor General's Office then established that Gaburici had not passed the law-stipulated exams to receive the bachelor’s degree at the end of his secondary education – he just did not show up for the exams. Nevertheless, on the same summer he became a university student – by using false documents. Upon graduation from the university, he applied for and was enlisted for a doctorate study course, but again failed to pass his graduation exams.

Due to all this, the Moldovan media constantly remind the public that the national economy is developing under the guidance of a person having no education, “who has bought his diploma at the Central Municipal Market in Chisinau”. However, the Prosecutor General's Office is refusing to provide access to information from the criminal litigation, started previously against the incumbent economy minister concerning his using of a fake university diploma.

“I knew you would be asking me such questions. But I should say this problem does not concern me. All your questions have already been answered by our competent organs, so I am not going to comment again. I should only say that I have a vast work experience. I created small companies from the zero, and I headed mega-large corporations. My knowledge and my experience are with me forever, and I will be further using them for the good of the country”, stated Chiril Gaburici.
