PAS LEADER DEMANDS TO CANCEL ELECTION RESULTS IN JORA DE MIJLOC VILLAGE

23 may, 2018

Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Chairperson Maya Sandu is demanding to cancel the results of the May 20 mayoral election in the village of Jora de Mijloc in the Orhei Raion, where victory was won straight in the first round by candidate Marina Tauber, the Deputy Chairperson of Ilan Shor Party.

Maya Sandu has already lodged a claim with the Orhei Raion Court with her demand to nullify the election result, and explained in the social networks afterwards that the maximum 'ceiling' of election expenditures, set by the Central Election Commission for this concrete locality, is 93,500 lei. However, according to the estimate made by the Promo-LEX Association in the course of its monitoring of the election campaign, the Ilan Shor Party spent not less than 294 thousand lei on that election.

"This sum does not include the bribing of voters on the election day, the organization of transport to deliver residents to polling stations, illicit videotaping of the election by means of drones that flooded the sky above Jora de Mijloc on the voting day", wrote Maya Sandu.

In her words, the Party of Action and Solidarity "just cannot tolerate watching how Vlad Plahotniuc [leader of the ruling Democratic Party of Moldova] permits Ilan Shor to rig the elections by using the money [the much-spoken billion euros] stolen from Moldovan banks".

As was already reported by Infotag, candidate Marina Tauber won the election in Jora de Mijloc already in the first round by polling 61.07% ballots. Candidate Lucia Terenti of the Democratic Party received 38.05%, and Sergiu Morozan of the Party of Socialists - 0.87% ballots. Also, Jora de Mijloc showed the highest voter turnout of all the 7 populated areas that held the mayoral elections on May 20 - 52.99%.
