PRESIDENT DODON RECEIVES UNUSUAL GIFTS ON HIS BIRTHDAY

President Igor Dodon wrote on his Facebook page that he received several icons and five small lambs as gifts on his birthday on February 28.

He also posted a video with congratulations and gifts his numerous guests gave to him on Monday.

Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and All Moldova gave to the President a bouquet of white roses. Many guests brought to Dodon icons. For example, the parliamentary faction of the Party of Socialists gave to him an icon carved in wood, which depicts Stefan the Great. Another icon with the same canonized Moldovan prince was given to the president by leaders of the National Martial Arts Federation “Voievod”. The Union of Officers of Moldova gave binoculars to Dodon.

The most original gift was given to the head of state by Gagauzia Bashkan [governor] Irina Vlah. According to the Gagauz tradition, in the run-up to spring she gave to Igor Dodon five lambs, which were brought in some baskets to the Presidential Administration.

Also, first and second presidents of Moldova Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi congratulated Dodon, wishing him competence and moral rectitude.

On February 18 Igor Dodon turned 44.
