MOLDOVA SHOULD LEARN FROM AUSTRIA TO STRENGTHEN NEUTRALITY AND CONDUCT REFORMS - PRESIDENT DODON

20 may, 2019

President Igor Dodon is convinced that Moldova should gain from Austria's experience in the consolidation of neutrality and in implementing a tax reform, he wrote on his Facebook page, describing the meeting he held with Hubert Fuchs, the State Secretary of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance, who is on a working visit to Chisinau. The conversation was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Moldova Christine Freilinger and by Grawe Group President Othmar Ederer.

"I positively assessed the Austrian Side's interaction with Moldovan Presidential Advisers on foreign political and country reintegration issues. The Presidential Administration will continue promoting a well-balanced foreign policy by establishing mutually beneficial partnerships with both the East and the West", wrote Igor Dodon.

The President further held that he closely follows the implementation by the Austrian authorities of a fiscal reform, which includes, inter alia, family support measures.

"For Moldova, such a policy is perceived as a good example of struggle against depopulation, which our country is now coming across. Only a well-thought governmental policy can persuade our citizens against leaving the country", wrote the President.

"I expressed gratitude for the technical assistance rendered to Moldova through the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) in many priority fields, including agriculture, education, infrastructure development, businesses etc. I gave a highest assessment to the excellent achievements and considerable consolidation of the joint-stock insurance company Grawe Carat Asigurari, which marked in April the 15th anniversary of its work in Moldova", wrote Igor Dodon.

In his words, Hubert Fuchs called Moldovan politicians to resolve, as soon as only possible, the problem of forming a sustainable parliamentary majority and to proceed to forming a Government, "which should permit to continue investing in our country, including by Austria".
