EU TO BACK NEW MOLDOVAN LEADERSHIP’S REFORM EFFORTS – AMBASSADOR PETER MICHALKO

23 july, 2019

The European Union will support the new Government of Moldova in its efforts to implement real reforms, Ambassador Peter Michalko, the Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, stated during his meeting with Moldova’s Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Vadim Brinzan on Monday.

According to the ministerial press service, the diplomat highlighted the professionalism and hard-working capacity of the new Government. He highly appreciated the progress reached by the republic in the realization of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement [DCFTA, the essential-most component of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement], thanks to which the share of Moldovan exports, which went to the European Union area in 2018, had reached 70% of the country’s overall exports, and imports from EU marked 50%.

Vadim Brinzan expressed gratitude to the European Union for its support and underlined that the DCFTA promotes a sustainable economic growth of the republic.

“From our part, we do our utmost to use the possibilities provided by the European Union and undertake concrete measures, including those to improve the legislation and business environment, to de-politicize state institutions, to eliminate technical barriers to trade, and to achieve a zero tolerance to corruption”, said the Minister.
