ANDREI NASTASE RESIGNS AS CHISINAU MAYOR, SO CITY WILL BE FURTHER GOVERNED BY MUNICIPAL COUNCIL SECRETARY

Andrei Nastase stated on Thursday that he abdicates the position of Chisinau Mayor, which he received on Wednesday by decision of the Chisinau Appeals Court. So, the duties of city head will be further performed by Chisinau Municipal Council Secretary Adrian Talmaci.

Nastase made the above statement in the Chisinau Primaria [city government] today. He called on employees to work according to the law and “don’t be afraid of anything”. He also called on all Chisinau citizens to not sit at home on October 20 and to necessarily go to the polls – massively.

The candidate said that he had come to the Primaria to ask all employees to work for citizens’ good and respect the law. Nastase hopes that with the God’s help he will shortly return to the City Hall. In conclusion, Andrei Nastase presented flowers to female employees of the Primaria.

Last few weeks, Nastase stood up several times with calls to citizens to necessarily go to the polls on October 20, and urged all state officials, including the President, to make such calls, too, to thus raise voters’ activity. He reminded that a second round of voting is held only at election of locality mayors, whereas municipal councils are elected in one round.
