MOLDOVA MUST CONTINUE ITS EUROPEAN REFORM PATH – PRESIDENT DODON

President Igor Dodon maintains that the Republic of Moldova must follow its chosen path of European reforms. The head of state reiterated this stance of his during the meeting he held on Wednesday with a delegation from the Seimas [Parliament] of the Republic of Lithuania led by Deputy Speaker Jonas Liesys.

Dodon wrote on his Facebook page afterwards: “I confirmed that Moldova must further march its way of implementation of European reforms and, at the same time, to build mutually beneficial cooperation with all countries – in the West and the East”.

The President welcomed the coming of the Lithuanian guests to Chisinau and highlighted the active political dialog developing between the two countries. He thanked the Baltic partners for the assistance Lithuania renders to Moldova in various fields, including in banking, food security, social protection, public health, struggle against money laundering and other, and for Lithuania’s backing given in the reform implementation process.

The President reaffirmed Moldova’s interest to an in-depth realization of the potential of the Moldova-Lithuania economic cooperation, and pointed out a growing trade turnover between the two countries. In 2017, the bilateral trade turnover marked US$21.5 million, and in 2018 -- US$22.5 million.
