Incumbent President Igor Dodon’s chances of winning in the second round of the forthcoming presidential election are higher than those of Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Chairperson Maia Sandu, as per the findings of the Barometrul Electoral opinion poll.

According to the research results, if a presidential election were held next Sunday, Igor Dodon would win 17.1% ballots, Maia Sandu – 14.1%, Our Party leader Renato Usatii – 2.6%, and Ilan Sor would receive 2.3%. However, more than a half of the respondents were uncertain yet.

But in the group of the so-called ‘determined voters’ who know whom they will vote for, the results would be as follows: Igor Dodon would receive 37.8%, Maia Sandu – 30.7%, Renato Usatii – 5.7%, and Ilan Sor – 5%.

If the second round is contested by finalists Dodon and Sandu, the incumbent President will receive 40.5% ballots and the PAS leader – 34.3%. And among “determined voters” the figures will be 54.1% with Dodon and 45.9% with Sandu.

In the politicians’ rating of trust, President Dodon maintains lead with 19.4%, followed by Maia Sandu (15.2%), Renato Usatii (4.2%), Ilan Sor (3.9%). DA Platform leader Andrei Nastase is trusted by only 2.5% respondents, Democratic Party leader Pavel Filip – by 2.4%, and Prime Minister Ion Chicu – by 1.4%.
