DPM AND PAS DEPUTIES COMMENT ON FORMATION OF NEW PSRM/SOR MAJORITY

10 november, 2020

MPs Monica Babuc of the Democratic Party and Sergiu Litvinenco of the Party of Action and Solidarity commented on the possible formation of a new parliamentary majority of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) and the Sor Party. This question was raised on the local television on Monday night.

Monica Babuc reminded that at appointing new Ministers of the Premier Chicu Government, President Igor Dodon made it clear that the Ministers are being appointed for a long-term perspective and that they may count on the Parliament’s firm support.

“At a recent meeting, President Dodon was saying something about possible discussions with the parliamentary Sor Party faction and with deputies who left Andrian Candu’s Pro Moldova group and created their own Platform “For Moldova”. Shortly after that, the Platform was joined by the Sor Party faction. I presume that one of the three formulas described by the President [“from a broad coalition to other different political variations, which will be realized jointly with responsible political parties”] was precisely the point”, said Monica Babuc.

In the words of PAS MP Sergiu Litvinenco, “Approximation of Igor Dodon with the Sor Party and those 5 MPs who quitted the Pro Moldova group is acquiring an increasingly distinct degree”. The deputy believes that this can be seen not only in the yesterday’s dismissal of DPM Ministers of Government [the DPM was in a governing coalition with the PSRM], but also in the character of statements that can be heard lately.

“Nobody is speaking any more about the Chisinau Airport concession, or the one-billion-dollar bank fraud. Court hearings of the cases are constantly adjourned. From this, one can make a conclusion about the building of a less formalized majority between Igor Dodon and Ilan Sor”, said Sergiu Litvinenco.

Experts were pointing out previously that the Platform “For Moldova” had been created by ex-Democrats and by the Sor Party faction exactly to smokescreen Igor Dodon’s collaboration with Ilan Sor and Vladimir Plahotniuc.
