SOCIALISTS’ LEADER: NOT TO VOTE FOR THE PREMIER CANDIDATE AND TO GO TO THE EARLY ELECTION

21 january, 2021

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) chairman Igor Dodon considers that if President Maia Sandu nominates a candidate for prime minister post, then it is not worth voting for him in order to achieve early parliamentary elections. As Infotag reports, he said this on the air of NTV Moldova on Wednesday evening.

“We should be honest with the voters. I am confident that those 700 thousand who voted for me (in the presidential elections - "I.") do not want us to vote for the government of Maia Sandu. In my opinion, there is no need to vote for the Sandu government. Against the background of everything that she has already said against Russia, Transnistria, give her the government as well, means that she will break so many firewood that it will take 5 years to fix it all. My position is not to vote and to go to early parliamentary elections,” Dodon stated.

At the same time, he did not give guarantees that the PSRM would not vote for the proposed prime minister candidacy.

“Nobody will give such guarantees. What if a good candidate is nominated?” Dodon asked, noting that decisions to vote or not are made only at the Republican Council of the party.

Dodon does not consider Andrei Nastase (Platform DA leader), Renato Usatii (Our Party leader ) or Vladimir Voronin (Communists’ leader) as “real candidates” for the post of prime minister.

“Sandu will not nominate Nastase, because he is her direct competitor and if the parliament votes for him (as prime minister -“ I. ”) he will have a platform, a tribune and he will be able to raise the party's rating and enter the new parliament at the expense of Sandu's electorate. She did everything possible to destroy Nastase’s rating within two years, and she succeeded,” the former President stressed.
