​PRESIDENT SANDU APPOINTS NEW SSC COMPOSITION

On Monday, President Maia Sandu signed a Decree on approving a new personal composition of the Supreme Security Council, which has now become 11 Members larger than before.

According to legislation, the Supreme Security Council necessarily comprises Parliament Speaker (Zinaida Greceanii), Prime Minister (Acting Aurel Ciocoi), President of the National Bank of Moldova (Octavian Armasu), Minister of Defense (Victor Gaiciuc), Minister of the Interior (Pavel Voicu), Information and Security Service (ISS) Director (Alexandru Esaulenco), Prosecutor General (Alexander Stoianoglo) and Chairman of the parliamentary Standing Committee for National Security, Defense and Public Order.

According to the Presidential Decree, the SSC has included Presidential Administration Secretary General Andrei Spinu, Presidential Adviser on Legal Issues Olesea Stamate, Presidential Financial Adviser Veaceslav Negruta and Presidential Adviser on Health Issues Alla Nemerenco.

Maia Sandu also included into the SSC composition the representatives of political parties and civil society – Chairman of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) parliamentary faction MP Igor Grosu; Platforma DA MP Chiril Motpan; PAS MP Sergiu Litvinenco; NBM Vice-President Vladimir Munteanu; economic expert Sergiu Gaibu of the Expert-Grup Association; Tatiana Raducanu of the Center for Legal Resources; and Vladislav Kulminschi, expert on domestic policy and defense questions.

Last week, Maia Sandu appointed civil society representative Anna Revenco as Presidential Adviser on Defense and National Security Questions, and as SSC Secretary. The new Supreme Security Council will hold its first sitting on Tuesday, January 26.
