JOSEP BORRELL: EUROPEAN UNION WILL CONTINUE CONTACTS WITH MOLDOVA AND GEORGIA TO STRENGTHEN THEIR INTERNAL RESILIENCE

The European Union (EU) will keep close contact with Moldova Georgia in order to continue to pass the message that enhancing internal resilience. This was stated by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, following a meeting of the Council of EU Foreign Ministers.

“Finally, we must also keep close contact with other partners, notably Georgia and Moldova and continue to pass the message that enhancing internal resilience - based on strong democratic institutions - is important to strengthen their capacity to face external threats,” Borrell stressed.

The central issue discussed at the meeting was the situation around Ukraine.

Thus, Borrell emphasized that "collective diplomatic efforts to convince Russia to take the path of dialogue will continue, even though the Russian rhetoric does not inspire a lot of confidence.

According to the EU official, "should diplomacy fail," the EU and partners "are very well advanced in preparations of responses to a potential Russian aggression.
