MOLDOVAN AND SPANISH FOREIGN MINISTERS DISCUSS MOLDOVA’S FUTURE IN EUROPEAN UNION

25 january, 2023

Moldova’s future in the European Union was the main topic of the conversation the RM Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu held in Madrid on Tuesday with his Spanish colleague Jose Manuel Albares Bueno.

Popescu wrote on social networks afterwards that the parties had agreed to cooperate with the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union from July 1.

“In the field of regional security, I strongly condemned Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. We discussed the challenges our country is facing due to this brutal war, especially in the energy sector, cyber security and hybrid threats. Moldova continues its humanitarian efforts, accepting Ukrainian refugees, offering humanitarian assistance, contributing to the paths of solidarity and regional stability,” Popescu wrote.

The Minister's post refers to an agreement to promote initiatives with the Spanish side for the benefit of Moldovan citizens - the entry into force of an agreement in the social sphere, the signing of an agreement on the conversion of driver's licenses and the continuation of discussions on the liberalization of roaming.
