ROMANIAN POLITICIANS SAY THAT IN CASE OF THREATS AGAINST MOLDOVA, ROMANIA WILL DEFINITELY COME TO THE RESCUE

28 march, 2024

“In case of direct threats to Moldova, Romania will definitely come to the rescue,” stated the leaders of the Alliance Dreapta unita (United Right) Catalin Drula and Eugen Tomac during a program on TV8 channel.

"In case of threats, Romania can by no means stay on the sidelines. We hope that it will not come to that. It is necessary to continue supporting Ukraine to ensure the victory of the free world, to do everything to preserve democracy and freedom," chairman of the Salvati Romania Union (Save Romania - USR), Catalin Drula, said.

Responding to a journalist's question about war fatigue, he noted that "there can be no fatigue in the face of the danger of dictatorship and barbarism."

"The civilized world has no other option but to stand up to the threat of evil, to remain free, to resist dictatorship. We are going through very cruel times. Moldovans should know that the European Union and Romania take into account all possible scenarios and are ready to support Moldova in a situation when threats from Moscow are heard almost daily," Drula emphasized.

Answering a question about Moldova's unification with Romania, he said that "this issue should be taken into account for the future."

"Now we need to meet in peace and prosperity in the European Union, in a union that guarantees security and stability. Our MEPs will insist on Moldova's European integration, on considering it as a separate candidate, not as a package. And we need to do concrete things - to develop joint projects, to build bridges, infrastructure, to do everything so that people would not be humiliated in queues at the border across the Prut," the USR leader stressed.

In turn, the chairman of the People's Movement Party (Miscarea populara - PMP), Eugen Tomac, said that "unification is possible regardless of the parties' positions and their popularity in society."

"I would like to remind you that in 1918, it was not the Unionist parties that realized unification, but all political forces. This will also happen now, when there is an appropriate context," Tomac concluded.
