THE FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER AND SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE DISCUSSED THE POLITICAL SITUATION IN MOLDOVA

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi during his visit to Strasbourg met on Monday with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović-Burić. As reported by INFOTAG, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service stated that the parties exchanged views on the political situation in the Republic of Moldova, the process of EU accession, and the dynamics of the regional situation.

“The Moldovan authorities are more than ever ready to take decisive steps in implementing reforms to combat threats to the rule of law,” the minister emphasized.

He spoke about the importance of EU support for Moldova in areas such as establishing an independent and effective judicial system, combating corruption and money laundering, electoral legislation, and the protection of refugees from Ukraine.

“The assistance of the Council of Europe is extremely important and valuable, especially in the context of current challenges, particularly the war of Russia against Ukraine,” the minister emphasized.
