POLL: PRESIDENT MAIA SANDU LEADS BY LARGE MARGIN AMONG POTENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR MOLDOVAN PRESIDENT

President Maia Sandu is leading with a big gap among potential candidates for the post of the President of Moldova, according to the results of a social survey conducted by CBS Research at the request of WatchDog.MD.

According to the poll, if the elections were held next Sunday, 35.1% of respondents would vote for current President Maia Sandu. 15.8% are ready to vote for former President Igor Dodon; another 5.6% - for former Prime Minister Ion Chica, 5.4% - for current Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban, 4.6% - for former President Vladimir Voronin, 4.5% - for former Bashkan of Gagauzia Irina Vlah, 3.9% - for former Balti Mayor Renato Usatii.

At the same time, 18% of respondents found it difficult to answer or said they would not participate in the elections.

If we take into account only the decided voters, Sandu may gain 42.9% in the first round of voting; Dodon -19.3%; Chicu -6.8%; Ceban -6.6%; Voronin -5.6%; Vlah - 5.5%; Usatii -4.8%.

At the same time, according to the poll, Sandu wins in the second round if Dodon, Ceban or Vlah enter the runoff.
