10 octomber, 2017

Superior Council of Magistrates Member Dr. Teodor Carnat, a Moldova State University professor, has tendered resignation on Tuesday after he had failed a test on a lie detector in the course of an open public contest organized to fill the vacant post of the National Integrity Organ Chairman.

"Tests on lie detectors are but a fiction. I am an honest man. I have always lived and acted in strict accordance with the law. I have never been under the influence of any political party or group. I wanted to become the head of the National Integrity Organ to concretely struggle against the corruption of our state officials and thus to promote the principle of incorruptibility in Moldova", Teodor Carnat stated to journalists on Tuesday.

On Monday, NIO member Victor Stratila and SMC member Teodor Carnat failed their lie detector tests - the final stage of the competition for the NIO Chairperson's post.

Sergiu Ostaf of the NIO Council stated to the press after the test that the lie detector showed that a greater part of the two contesters' answers were not true.
