PAS TO HOLD SOCIAL CAMPAIGN ON PREVENTING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

The Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) is conducting social campaign, directed to preventing violence against women.

Party leader Maia Sandu said at the Wednesday's press conference that family violence is a highly widespread phenomenon in Moldova.

"According to the statistics, over 60% women faced such phenomenon, while 20% of men believe that women should be patient in relation to violence for preserving the family. Moreover, only in 12% cases women ask for help from state structures, which is due to mistrust ", said former Minister of Education.

Chairman of Chisinau PAS women organization Angela Munteanu-Pojoga said that for preventing violence against women, including by means of raising the public involvement, the PAS will launch a social campaign on November 25 - the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women, which will last until December 10.

According to her, in the first day of campaign, PAS activists will hold a flashmob in the Chisinau pedestrian street to familiarize citizens about the danger of spreading this phenomenon. Later, the PAS will present a special research of the situation in the field of violence against women in Moldova. Also, meetings with women both in Chisinau and in raions will be organized to raise their awareness for preventing family violence. The PAS will organize profile trainings in schools and other educational institutions and will hold meetings with expert society.
