CAMPAIGN AGAINST VIOLENCE STARTS IN MOLDOVA

"16 Days of Active Movement to Prevent Violence Against Women" is the name of campaign, which will be held in Moldova on November 25 through December 10 at the initiative of European and international organizations.

According to the UNDP Moldova, the campaign is aimed at demonstrating solidarity with women and girls, who became victims of violence.

"Also, we want to warn the fair sex about the possible danger, to inform them about agencies they can address for help. During the entire campaign, we will be holding seminars, charitable actions and consultations on preventing violence against women", said UNDP representative Veronica Teleuca.

According to her, within the campaign, a charitable concert of classic music will be held in the National Philharmonic on Friday evening, during which an action for raising funds for violence victims will take place.

"The philharmonic's symphonic orchestra, conducted by Moldova People's Artict Mihail Agafita will perform at the concert", she said.

The admission to the concert is on the basis of previous electronic reservation, the sitting is limited.

Infotag's dossier: The campaign to prevent violence against women will be held with the support of the Swedish Government, United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, the UN and the Joint United Nations Program on HIV and AIDS.

According to the statistics, in 10 registered cases of violence against girls and women, six take place in the circle of relatives. Over 10 months, 2481 cases of family violence have been registered in the republic, 775 of which are causing of traumas of varying severity or even murders. In 611 cases aggressors' victims were women, while in 44 cases - girls.
