GOVERNMENT APPROVES 2018-2022 FOOD SAFETY STRATEGY

The Moldovan Government approved the Food Safety Strategy for the period 2018-2022, which is directed to ensuring high level of consumer security.

The document, presented by Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Vasile Batca implies the harmonization of national normative acts, which regulate the sphere of food safety with the EU legislation.

Responsible authorities will have to revise 700 state standards with the consequent canceling of some of them if necessary. Also, it is planned to create a system for analysis of National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) and Agriculture Ministry data for efficient development of policies.

Besides, the e-ANSA electronic system, which will ensure operative and safe data exchange between authorities in electronic format.

The achievement of the set goals will contribute to the growth of food and live stock exports from Moldova to the EU and CIS countries.
