SADOVA VILLAGE COUNCILORS CONDEMN UNIREA DECLARATIONS ADOPTED IN 10 OTHER LOCALITIES

06 february, 2018

The Municipal Councilors in the Village of Sadova (Calarasi Raion), the native place of President Igor Dodon, have condemned the Declarations on unification [Unirea] with Romania adopted already in 10 villages of Moldova, the head of state wrote in the Facebook on Tuesday.

“We are patient, but everything has its limit. Alas, impudent fellows have neither the feeling of permissible limits nor common sense. These days, our unionists [adherents to the idea of Unirea – Moldova’s unification with Romania], on the call by and with the support of some local imperialists or those from behind the Prut River [separating the Republic of Moldova and Romania], have stepped over this limit. Their anti-nation campaign, within which some Village Council members have signed Declarations on liquidating the State of Moldova, is showing that all this is not a trifle. This is already an obvious anti-constitutional action. And criminal litigations will necessarily find these ‘heroes’ – inevitably in a due time”, wrote Igor Dodon.

He remarked that “on the other side, some of the Village Councilors, who put their signatures for the Republic of Moldova disappearance against their will, have promoted a serious answer from behalf of our citizens”.

“At the same time, many local leaders from villages and raions are phoning me and saying that they are ready to sign statements to resolutely express their trust in the statehood of the Republic of Moldova”, the President wrote and stated confidence that such patriotic position is shared by an absolute majority of local councilors and mayors.

“I am proud that the first locality, where 8-of-13 Village Councilors have signed a Statement in support of the Moldovan statehood, is the Village of Sadova, my native place. Thank you, my dear fellow-villagers”, wrote Igor Dodon.

The President believes this patriotic initiative will be picked up by the local councils of many other populated areas, “to thus demonstrate that we have a country of our own, that we have a home and that we are genuine patriots when our statehood and our national identity are in jeopardy. We don’t want to quarrel with anybody. We don’t wish evil to anybody. But we shall not tolerate or permit treacherous actions or attacks against the statehood of our Motherland. The 2018 hysteria will pass and will remain in the past, and the Republic of Moldova will survive and will have a great future despite the efforts by those who wish our disappearance”.

Earlier this month, social network users reported that Sadova Councilors were considering the adoption of a Declaration on unification with Romania. Last few weeks, analogous Declarations were approved by the Municipal Councils of 10 populated areas. On Monday, the parliamentary Socialist faction proposed the Parliament’s adopting a statement on condemning the above-mentioned declarations on unification with Romania. The Socialists’ draft of a parliamentary Resolution has been accepted and registered by the Parliament Secretariat.
