CAHUL APPEALS CHAMBER ESTABLISHES COURT COMPOSITION FOR HEARING ILAN SHOR CASE

14 february, 2018

The case against Orhei Mayor, entrepreneur Ilan Shor, sentenced by first instance court to 7.5 years for financial machinations, will be considered by the Cahul Appeals Chamber panel of judges, made of Vitalie Movila (Chairman), Eugen Dvurecenschi and Nina Veleva.

Initially, the case of Shor was submitted to the Chisinau Appeals Chamber. But most of 21 judges (united in seven panels) found arguments for refusing to participate in the process.

Chisinau AC Chairman Ion Plesca also maintains that this case should not be considered in this court, because head of its secretariat is wife of one of Shor’s lawyers.

Infotag’s dossier: Ilan Shor was arrested on June 22, 2016 on accusation of involvement in receiving over 5 billion lei in the form of credits from Banca de Economii in 2014, which were later laundered through offshore companies. On the basis of Shor evidences, ex-premier Vlad Filat and entrepreneur Veaceslav Platon were jailed to 9 and 18 years, respectively.
