PARLIAMENT APPROVES ABOLITION OF PAPER MEDICAL INSURANCE POLICY

24 july, 2018

Last Friday evening, the Parliament has approved a bill on abolition of paper medical insurance policy in the first reading.

The concept of compulsory health insurance policy will be replaced by the term "status of the insured person", while the procedure of police activation will be simplified.

Insured citizens and economic agents will not have to apply to the Territorial Agency of the National Social Insurance Fund to get the policy. Registration of insured people will be carried out through electronic channels; thus, the information will be received from employers and authorized institutions.

The new additions provide that each person will have a personal insurance number. The status of an individual in the compulsory health insurance system is confirmed by means of a special information system using the state identification number or the number of compulsory health insurance.

The abolition of paper medical insurance policy will facilitate the transition to digital public services and will benefit Moldovan citizens abroad, who are paying in.
