MINISTRY EXPLAINS DESTRUCTIONS ON NEWLY-REPAIRED ROADS

The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure presented the conclusions concerning the reasons of destructions at the recently repaired roads, in particular in the village of Pirjota (Riscani raion).

According to the message, the State Road Administration has conducted an urgent technical expertise of the destroyed section.

"This demonstrated that 10 square meters of the road were destroyed as a result of extreme conditions of exploitation, as cargo vehicles which transport pebbles and crushed stone are using it. The Zaicani-Pirjota road was repaired this summer. The length of the repaired road section accounted for 840 meters", the Ministry press release says.

Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici demanded the contractor company to repair the road from the company's own funds at the sections, where the quality of works does not meet technical norms, and to check the rest of the road section. The repairs in the Riscani raion were conducted by the state enterprise "Drumuri Riscani", which was put for sale by the Government.

Within the program "Good Roads for Moldova", 1275 km of roads were repaired (71.4% of the 2018 plan), while the volume of investments reached 1.24 billion lei. Currently, increasingly more posts that say hastily repaired roads began to fracture even before the cold weather came appear in social networks.
