MOLDOVA UNDERTAKES UNPRECEDENTED SECURITY MEASURES DUE TO OFFICIAL VISIT OF RECEP TAYYIP ERDOGAN

17 octomber, 2018

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay an official visit to Moldova on October 17-18. In this connection, Moldova's profiled governmental agencies and the Chisinau Primaria [city government] are already undertaking and will be further taking unprecedented security measures.

In particular, according to the Primaria's order, transport circulation and pedestrian movement will be substantially limited in nearly 30 Chisinau streets, and some streets in the central part of the capital will be completely closed for people and traffic. The Primaria has made public the list of such streets.

The Primaria refused to provide information about the precise timing of street closure, but assured that most of the streets will be closed only shortly before and during the passing of the President of Turkey's motorcade, and in all the rest periods the streets will live their usual life.

But yet tougher measures will be undertaken in Comrat town, the administrative center of the southern Moldovan autonomous region of Gagauzia, where the high guest will go on Thursday. There, the residents of central town streets are strongly recommended to remain at home during the visit and not to approach windows, as "this may be dangerous".

According to the official visit program, on October 17 Recep Tayyip Erdogan will make an excursion around Chisinau and will observe the magnificent building of the Presidential Office just repaired with Turkey's assistance. The official Ankara allocated over 10 million euros for that. Together with Moldovan President Igor Dodon, Recep Tayyip Erdogan will take part in the solemn ceremony of inauguration of the renovated edifice.

And on Thursday, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his wife will visit Gagauzia, where six important social objects, built with Turkey's participation, will be officially opened in Comrat and several other populated areas.

Also, a massive rally will be held in Comrat, at which the Presidents of Turkey and Moldova will take floor. The autonomous region's authorities will organize transport for the willing residents from all Gagauzia populated areas to come to Comrat and welcome the guests.
