​JAPANESE AMBASSADOR WELCOMES MOLDOVA’S EFFORTS ON SCIENCE DEVELOPMENT

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Moldova Masanobu Yoshii met with Moldovan Academy of Sciences (MAS) new President Ion Tighineanu, President of the Technical University Viorel Bostan, as well as a number of representatives of other higher educational institutions of Moldova and Japan on Thursday.

The Ambassador welcomed the Moldovan scientists’ intention to develop cooperation with Japanese colleagues given the mutual interest in interaction on international level for implementing important international projects. The diplomat stressed that the Japanese government will support any initiative in the field of science.

“Moldova’s higher educational institutions should establish as more connections at the international level as possible in the field of experience exchange, organizing public lectures and seminars. This is important both for Japan and for Moldova for its development”, the diplomat said.

The MAS president thanked the Japanese diplomat for openness and his role in raising cooperation of Moldovan educational institutions with the Tokyo University of Science.

“We are already implementing a joint project with the University of Shizuoka, but we would also like to work with the Tokyo university, in order that more Moldovan students to have the possibility to visit the Land of the Rising Sun and learn from its experience. For us, it is important to use the republic’s potential at maximum, create all the necessary conditions for conducting scientific work directly in Moldova”, the scientist said.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed joint activities, planned for 2019, including the International Conference on Nanotechnologies and Biomedical Engineering, which will take place in the Moldova Technical University building in September with participation of more than 100 foreign guests from 20 countries, including from Japan.
