ION CEBAN VISITS MOSCOW, MEETS RUSSIAN DEPUTY PREMIER AND MAYOR OF MOSCOW

In the course of his first foreign visit, which was to Moscow, new Mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, who is President Vladimir Putin’s Special Representative for the development of trade and economic relations with the Republic of Moldova, and with Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin.

Ceban wrote on his Facebook page after his meeting with Dmitry Kozak: “I received warm congratulations and wishes of work success. We discussed a broad circle of economic, social, cultural, education questions of cooperation between Chisinau and Russian cities and regions. We have decided to work out an Action Plan for the near period. I realize that there is a gigantic potential for cooperation and development”.

And after his meeting with Sergey Sobyanin, Ion Ceban wrote: “We have agreed to organize an exchange of experience in various spheres like architecture and urbanism, public transport, ‘smart’ city, public health, social sphere, housing construction and utility services, education. I asked to study a possibility to provide assistance to us in the form of several tens of special motor vehicles and equipment for the city’s current needs, and to launch several investment projects and state-private partnerships. We have agreed to renovate and update the Agreement on cooperation between the two cities. Moscow has many excellent examples of city development that can be successfully used in Chisinau”.

At the beginning of this week, Ion Ceban published the congratulation on the occasion of his appointment as Mayor, which had come from Sergey Sobyanin. Ceban wrote that he had received many congratulations from foreign colleagues, but went on his first visit exactly to Moscow “because the first invitation for a visit came from Sobyanin”. However, the published Sobyanin’s congratulation did not contain an invitation for Ceban to come to Moscow”.
