29 november, 2019

Starting from next week, prosecutors shall be no more interfering into the work of economic operators, Moldova’s new Prosecutor General Alexander Stoianoglo stated to journalists on Friday, stressing that first of all he will put an end to the so-called ‘mask shows’ with arrests of the people of business.

“This means that there will be no intrusions into offices of masked uniformed guerillas, no detentions of businesspeople, no unlawful humiliating arrests. This means also that all the criminal litigations against citizens working in real economy shall now on be based only on the materials of the National Tax Inspectorate”, explained the PG.

In his words, “The people of business must not live in a constant fear for themselves, their families and their businesses. Their task is to work, pay taxes and create jobs within the framework of the law. Among my first steps on the new job will be analysis of the situation in the Service and formation of team”.

His intentions were backed by President Igor Dodon, who called to rid the Prosecution Service of the image of a deterrent and to focus on the detection of high-profile cases and on corruption in high power echelons.
