PAS DEPUTY ASKS PGO TO CLARIFY THE SITUATION ON TURKISH TEACHERS CASE

17 december, 2019

MP Sergiu Litvinenco made a request to the Prosecutor General's Office on Monday with a demand to report on which stage is the investigation of the criminal case on deportation of Turkish teachers in September 2018.

The MP wrote in social networks, publishing the text of the address. In the document, he says that in August 2019 the PGO announced about the starting of a criminal case on the fact of expulsion, while in September reported about the detention of ex-Deputy Head of the Information and Security Service Alexandru Baltag, but according to Litvinenco, it seems that the case has been put on pause since September.

"It seems that the detention is aimed at helping those responsible for illegal actions to evade any responsibility. Thus, I addressed to the PGO to clarify the situation. Also, I am interested if the investigators have ever thought about the possible involvement of Vlad Plahotniuc and Igor Dodon in the deportation. Both of them had won from providing this 'service' to Erdogan - the first got money for building the Chisinau Arena, the latter - for reconstruction of the Presidential Administration building", Litvinenco maintains.

According to him, Dodon has already stated about his noninvolvement, but his word means nothing, as he says one thing and does another.

"Also, I would like to know if ex-Head of the ISS Vasile Botnari is investigated within this case. Being head of the Service, he was responsible both for the service's activity and for any of its decisions. The fact that he did this at Plahotniuc's order is a different question, but strictly within the law it is Botnari who coordinated the teachers' expulsion", the MP expressed confidence.

He maintains that it is for the first time in Moldova when the country leadership literally sold the people, like in times of slavery. He wrote that he will do everything possible that all the involved to be brought to justice.

Infotag's dossier: On September 6, 2018, the Moldovan ISS detained and deported to Turkey seven teachers from Moldovan-Turkish network of lyceums "Orizont". This case was widely publicized and caused a wave of criticism from the side of civil society. On June 11, 2019, the European Court of Human Rights issued a decision which declares that the Republic of Moldova violated the rights and freedoms of these people.
