MOLDOVA CoV STATISTICS OF THE DAY: + 82 = 505

03 april, 2020

Last 24 hours, Moldova has revealed 82 new instances of novel coronavirus infection. So, the country’s total CoV incidence has reached 505 cases, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbraveanu announced to the press following a daily meeting of the Crisis Unit held on Thursday evening.

“We made 332 tests for coronavirus, of which 82 turned out to be positive. Of them, only 5 were with citizens who had returned from abroad namely from Great Britain, and all the rest caught the disease in Moldova. We have registered one more death: a 53-year-old man died in a Chisinau hospital. Besides COVID-19, he had other diseases, too”, said the Minister.

In his turn, President Igor Dodon said that a question is being considered of increasing the daily number CoV tests carried out.

“We have test sets – nearly 13 thousand presently. This is enough for about 2 weeks of work. We are expecting to receive next week another 100,000 tests already ordered from China. Also, the technical capacities of our laboratories are growing. Besides the main laboratory, the World Health Organization certification was recently received by 4 more labs. So, they are now able to carry out 1,800 to 2,000 tests per day altogether”.

Igor Dodon called on all Moldova citizens returning home to necessarily buy compulsory health insurance policies. The President also called PAS leader Maia Sandu, who challenged this governmental decision in court, to revoke her application from the court.

Dodon presented figures of the cost of treatment of one coronavirus patient: 2,255 lei per day (110 euros), and in an intensive therapy ward – 5,300 lei/day. A course of treatment lasts minimum 14 days, so this makes 32 thousand lei in a usual ward and 78 thousand lei in an intensive therapy ward.
