MOLDOVANS RETURNING HOME HAVE THE RIGHT TO UNEMPLOYMENT ALLOWANCE

03 april, 2020

Moldovan citizens, who come back home, have the right to be receiving unemployment allowance, said Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbraveanu at the Friday’s briefing.

She said that in accordance with the law, adopted by the Government under personal responsibility, all citizens have the right to get the unemployment allowance, regardless of the presence or lack of labor experience in the territory of the republic.

“The right to receive unemployment allowance is established on the basis of an address, submitted to the territorial offices of the National Employment Agency (ANOFM). The assistance accounts for 2.7 thousand lei and meets the minimal guaranteed wage in the real sector of economy. The sum for those who are already receiving allowance, but which is smaller than 2.7 thousand lei, will be raised to the general level”, the minister said.

According to ANOFM Director Raisa Dogaru, the form of application for the unemployment allowance may be downloaded on the agency’s website, filled and sent to the territorial representation in accordance with the place of residence.

“The application should be replenished with a copy of the ID-card, as well as documents about education or qualification. Besides, each person should attach to the package of documents a declaration about lack of job and income. After registration as the unemployed, the person will have to submit another application for getting assistance”, she explained.

The director said that there are two categories of unemployment allowance beneficiaries – those who do not have working experience and those who have it.

“The unemployment allowance to the second type of citizens is provided in line with another law, adopted in 2018. If a person has working experience, he will receive allowance worth 40-50% of his average salary. If he has an allowance worth less than 2.7 thousand lei, the difference is compensated.”

The new provisions represent measures of support to population in the period of the state of emergency.
