UNIREA MOVEMENT NOMINATES DORIN CHIRTOACA AS ITS PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

Political movement "Unirea" [Unification], consisting of 5 pro-Romania organizations (the Liberal Party (LP), the Union for Salvation of Bessarabia USB, the Romanian Popular Party, the Democratia Acasa party, and the National Liberal Party) has nominated LP leader Dorin Chirtoaca as its candidate for the presidential election of November 1.

This decision was taken by the Council of the Movement, though Unirea keeps on insisting on having one common candidate from all the unionist forces, and is promising to spare no effort to achieve this. So, the Unirea is remaining open to proposals from other unionist parties, from the academia and the diaspora.

"Dorin Chirtoaca will be initiating discussions, roundtable conferences etc. to achieve an optimum solution for the unionist electorate to eventually put an end to its current disunity", said the Unirea press release issued on Tuesday.
