​UKRAINE PROHIBITS FOREIGNERS TO TRANSIT THROUGH ITS TERRITORY

Ukraine has prohibited the transit of foreigners through its territory. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported that the prohibition was introduced in connection with the spread of the coronavirus and has been in effect since September 9.

"The norm providing for the possibility of entry into Ukraine for foreigners who followed through the territory of our state in transit is canceled," – is said in a statement on the website of the Foreign Ministry.

According to the new changes, entry into Ukraine is allowed for foreign citizens who are one of the spouses, parents, children, grandmother or grandfather of a citizen of Ukraine. It is also allowed to enter foreign students studying in higher educational institutions of Ukraine.

The new rules do not clarify whether exceptions will be made for the transit of freight transport and the transport of goods through the territory of Ukraine.

According to the latest official data from the Ukrainian government, there are 143,030 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine. Over the past day, 2,551 people have been infected. In total, 2,979 people have died in the country for the entire time of the pandemic.
