TIRASPOL LEADER YEVGENY SHEVCHUK IS PREPARING TO DISCHARGE FOREIGN MINISTER NINA SHTANSKI SOON

01 september, 2015

Transnistria’s First Deputy Premier, minister of foreign affairs Nina Shtanski will soon be dismissed from her posts due to her soon-to-be marrying Transnistrian president Yevgeny Shevchuk, the happy fiancé announced at the Monday’s news conference he gave on the occasion of the approaching Day of the Republic.

In his words, Nina Shtanski “will soon assume other duties – the duties of the president’s spouse”.

Nina Shtanski is 38 years old. Until 2009, when Shevchuk was chairman of the Transnistrian supreme soviet [parliament], she had been assistant speaker. After his becoming president of the republic at the end of 2011, Shtanski made a breathtaking career. Already at the beginning of 2012, she was appointed minister of foreign affairs and Transnistria’s chief negotiator with Chisinau, and then first deputy prime minister. Shtanski has not been married but has a daughter. Many in Transnistria say that her father is Yevgeny Shevchuk.

Shevchuk, 47, has never been married, either. The mass media used to publish stories about his close relations with Nina Shtanski, but until now such stories had received no official confirmations. According to unofficial information, Shevchuk and Shtanski have announced their forthcoming marriage because they are expecting a second child.

The Tiraspol media have written much that Shevchuk had had close relations with many prominent Transnistrian women, some of whom are holding essential state posts in the unrecognized republic.
