16 january, 2017

A Transnistrian governmental delegation will visit Moscow at the end of January to negotiate the broadening of the region’s multifaceted cooperation with the Russian Federation. Details of the forthcoming voyage were discussed here on Friday between new Transnistrian prime minister Alexander Martynov and the Russian Federation’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Moldova, Farit Muhametshin.

The interlocutors discussed also the socio-economic situation in and around Transnistria and possibilities of the further development and consolidation of bilateral relations.

Premier Martynov said that in the development of Transnistria’s economy, a particular attention is attached to broadening the cooperation with the Russian Federation.

“We have achieved positive results in cooperation with concrete regions of Russia, in particular with the Kaluga oblast. We shall be further working in this direction”, said Martynov.

In his words, in Moscow the delegation will hold meetings with the representatives of several federal ministries, civil society organizations, trade unions, the Federal Accounts Chamber, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives etc.

“We would like to use Russia’s experience in working out roadmaps for improvement of the business climate and support for exports. It is important for us to hear Russian experts’ opinion about how all this can be used in Transnistria”, said Alexander Martynov.

Ambassador Muhametshin and Mikhail Davydov, Director of the Russian Center for Sciences and Culture in Chisinau, which is the Moldovan representation of RosSotrudnichestvo – the Federal Agency for CIS and Overseas Compatriots Affairs and for International Humanitarian Cooperation, came to Tiraspol for yet one more purpose – to attend a regional conference of the Union of Russian Communities of Transnistria.

Union’s Chairperson Viorica Kohtareva reported the organization’s work results achieved in 2016 and plans for this year.

Mikhail Davydov thanked the Union for its work in popularization of the Russian language and culture and Russian education.

“In 2017, we will expand our activities in the fields of education, sports, socially oriented projects and so forth. A particular attention will be attached to work with the young generation”, said Mikhail Davydov.
