PRESIDENT DODON RECEIVES RUSSIA’S SPECIAL ENVOY ON TRANSNISTRIA

Moldovan President Igor Dodon received President Putin’s Special Envoy at the Transnistria negotiations, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Sergey Gubarev, who came here earlier this week to hold consultations in Chisinau and Tiraspol. The meeting was attended by the Russian Federation’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Moldova, Farit Muhametshin. The interlocutors discussed a large number of questions related to Transnistrian conflict settlement. Dodon confirmed that an active dialog is continuing at the levels of country leadership and of external partners to work out a common vision of a legal status for Transnistria. The head of state emphasized his support for the efforts to strengthen earlier accords, and spoke of the concrete steps being made to organize a new 5+2 format meeting.
