TRANSNISTRIAN AUTHORITIES CHECK POPULATION’S MOBILIZATION READINESS

21 november, 2017

The Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (PMR) is prepared to oppose to natural, technical or other negative factors. Such conclusion was made by Transnistria president Vadim Krasnoselsky on the results of the ‘mobilization exercise’ organized for the male part of the population last week.

Krasnoselsky said at the meeting of the PMR Security Council dedicated to the exercise results that the event has given a clear picture of what forces the Transnistrian State can count on in case of need.

“As many as 39,979 men aged 18 to 60 arrived at their assembly points, which constitutes an attendance indicator of 90%”, the president said, and highly appreciated the level of civil responsibility and conscientiousness as well as the high quality of exercise preparation.

In his words, the knowledge about human resources that could be mobilized in cases of emergency has heretofore been pretty approximate and unreliable, so “now this information gap has been liquidated: we have received a clear picture of the PMR’s mobilization potential”.

Vadim Krasnoselsky resolutely dispelled rumors that the mobilization exercise has allegedly pursued provocative goals with respect to Moldova.

“Transnistria is not going to attack anybody or wage whatever war, though we are indeed self-sufficient from the viewpoint of power structures. The exercise was aimed precisely at receiving information about the human resource the state can count on in case of calamities or technical catastrophes. I was glad to learn that out of 41 thousand summoned men, almost 40 thousand showed up at mobilization points. This is a very good indicator. These are healthy men capable of opposing to the elements and technical catastrophes – together with the president and the government of Transnistria. This is the unity of the power and the people for resolving problems that may appear in Transnistria. Let the Lord prevent them”, said Vadim Krasnoselsky.

According to the latest household census held in 2015, the Transnistrian region had a population of 475.7 thousand people, which figure was 79.7 thousand (or 14.3%) smaller than at the previous census of 2004. Men constituted 45.4% population, or approximately 216 thousand.
