TRANSNISTRIAN NEGOTIATOR SAYS CHISINAU REFUSES TO FULFILL LIABILITIES

24 september, 2019

Foreign minister of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan republic (PMR), Tiraspol political representative at negotiations with Chisinau Vitaly Ignatiev maintains that Moldovan authorities in fact renounced the fulfillment of the earlier undertaken liabilities.

According to the website of the region’s foreign ministry, on Monday he met with head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch and expressed the opinion that given this, the most serious task today is to establish concrete time frames and achieve the fulfillment of the earlier agreements.

“On behalf of Transnistria, I want to confirm the fundamental commitment to following the earlier taken decisions. We are interested in results within the socio-humanitarian and economic agenda”, Ignatiev said.

At the proposal of the OSCE Mission, the sides had a detailed discussion on the agenda of the upcoming sitting in 5+2 format in Bratislava at the beginning of October.

Ignatiev stressed the need to hold on to discussions within the sustainable parameters of the negotiation space with the focus on aspects, which have direct influence on population wellbeing.

He positively assessed the last-week’s visit of OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger to Transnistria, regarding this as OSCE Secretariat’s attention to the negotiation process and its interest in resolving concrete problems this year.

As Infotag has already reported, the Chisinau leadership does not renounce the policy of small steps in the Transnistrian settlement, but they insist on including political issues in the negotiation agenda.
