04 octomber, 2019

Prime minister of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan republic (PMR) government Alexander Martynov met with Head of Unit of the European Commission Directorate General for Trade Petros Sourmelis in Tiraspol on Friday.

According to the regional government’s website, he said that the trade with the European Union accounts for traditionally big share in Transnistria’s foreign trade.

“The free trade regime means not just development of the Transnistrian businesses, this is also direct influence on development of the state in general, through new jobs, additional deductions to the budget, inflow of foreign currency”, Martynov said.

According to him, the republic fulfills all the undertaken liabilities on the earlier developed roadmap.

Within the working meeting with the EU delegation, the trade relations were discussed.

Petros Sourmelis expressed readiness to discuss any questions on the simplified trade functioning within the agreement signed in 2015.

Infotag’s dossier: In January-August the Transnistria’s trade turnover with EU countries accounted for US$256.1 million, which is almost 21% of the region’ entire external trade. 27.8% of Transnistrian exports account for the EU.
