FLENCHEA AND NEUKIRCH DISCUSS DRAFT DECLARATION ON TRANSNISTRIAN SETTLEMENT

26 november, 2019

At its Meeting scheduled for December 5-6, the OSCE Ministerial Council will discuss and adopt a Declaration on the Transnistrian conflict settlement negotiations in the format of 5+2, whose draft was discussed in Chisinau on Monday by Moldova’s Special Representative for Transnistria negotiations, Deputy Prime Minister for Country Reintegration Alexandru Flenchea and Ambassador Claus Neukirch, the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.

According to Moldova’s National Bureau for Country Reintegration, the interlocutors also exchanged opinions about the realization in practice of a number of solutions that were discussed at the Bavaria Conference held on November 4-5.

On Monday, Deputy Prime Minister Alexandru Flenchea met also with U.S. Ambassador Dereck Hogan. The parties discussed the new Government’s priorities of the country reintegration policy, the Chisinau-Tiraspol dialog agenda, in particular negotiations in the telecommunications field.

As was already reported by Infotag, this year’s only round of 5+2 format negotiations was completed in October without signing a Final Protocol. That document failed to be agreed upon also at the informal conference on confidence-building measures held in early November in Bavaria. Consultations on the document will be continued on the sidelines of the OSCE Summit to take place in Bratislava in December.
