TIRASPOL LEADER GOING TO BRISK UP RELATIONS WITH MOLDOVA IN 2020

17 december, 2019

Transnistria president Vadim Krasnoselsky believes it is necessary to enhance in 2020 the expert groups' work on questions of the 5+2 negotiating format agenda and to hold more meetings of the Sides' Political Representatives in the format of 1+1, he stated during his meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Moldova Zdenek Krejci held here on Monday.

Answering the guest's question about the reasons of the noticeable decelerations of the general negotiation momentum and suspension of the Bratislava meeting, Krasnoselsky expressed an opinion that such results were caused by the insufficient and, as a consequence, low-quality preliminary work by profiled expert groups, by the noticeable reduction of the number of 1+1 meetings, and the non-fulfillment by Chisinau of a number of earlier reached accords. And indeed the electoral processes and a change of government in Moldova, he added.

According to the Transnistrian presidential website, the interlocutors spoke also about the cooperation between Transnistria and the Czech Republic, the development of bilateral contacts, and realization of socio-humanitarian projects.

Ambassador Zdenek Krejci was keen to learn more about the economic situation in Transnistria, in particular how the Transnistrian government is going to ensure the region's energy security in case the Russian gas transit across Ukraine is stopped after January 1.
