TIRASPOL LEADER SAYS HE CANNOT SEE A PERSPECTIVE FOR RESUMING TALKS WITH MOLDOVA

07 july, 2020

Transnistria president Vadim Krasnoselsky says that for the time being he cannot see whatever perspectives for resumption of negotiations with Moldova, he stated during a meeting with the United States Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Moldova, Dereck Hogan, held in Tiraspol on Monday.

"The serious slowing down of the negotiation process dynamic between Tiraspol and Chisinau is causing our serious concern. The negotiation process has been in fact in stagnation. The perspectives of resumption of a normal dialog are not clear, so far", said Krasnoselsky.

Meanwhile, he said, new humanitarian and social questions are mounting - in addition to the old problems that would not be resolved for years.

"Questions not related to the pandemic should be solved in a working order. State officials should not justify with the pandemic their inactivity. It is necessary to reveal possibilities for resumption of normal communication", believes Vadim Krasnoselsky.

His press service reported that the interlocutors exchanged opinions on topical issues of the negotiation agenda.

"Ambassador Derek Hogan expressed hope for a soonest-possible settlement of the relations between the Sides on all pending questions, and assured the readiness of the United States, as a negotiation observer, to render assistance to the Sides in their solving of outstanding questions", said the press release.
