MOLDOVA'S ACTING PREMIER AND OSCE SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE DISCUSS TRANSNISTRIAN SETTLEMENT AGENDA

Moldova's Acting Prime Minister Aurel Ciocoi met in Chisinau on Tuesday with Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting, the Special Representative of the Swedish OSCE Presidency for the Transnistrian Settlement Process, and discussed with him the main questions of the Transnistrian conflict settlement agenda.

The governmental press service reported that the interlocutors outlined among the key priorities of the current year the provision of basic human rights and freedoms; restoration of free movement of persons and vehicles in the Transnistrian region; upholding of a positive dynamic at various negotiation platforms; creation of conditions for holding a new round of 5+2 format negotiations; fulfillment of the accords on the Berlin+ Package.

The parties spoke out for a soonest-possible solving of topical problems in the interests of the residents of both Dniester River banks.

Aurel Ciocoi said the Moldova Government stands for a dynamic and constructive dialog for the good of the entire Republic of Moldova population. He voiced hope for the support of the Swedish OSCE Presidency so as to solve by joint efforts the problems faced by the people living on both river sides.

On Tuesday, the OSCE Special Representative met also with Moldova's Special Representative for Transnistria negotiations, Deputy Prime Minister for Country Reintegration Olga Cebotari, who informed Thomas Mayr-Harting about the current situation of the negotiation process and about the realization of protocol decisions.

Olga Cebotari assured the diplomat that the Republic of Moldova leadership is interested to advance on all the agenda questions.
