26 april, 2021

Vaccination of the population of Transnistria against COVID-19 with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, delivered to Tiraspol on Saturday from Chisinau, starts on Monday. On the eve of its arrival in the region, 15 thousand people signed up for vaccination.

According to Infotag, referring to the website of the regional leader Vadim Krasnoselsky, he personally arrived at the Tiraspol Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology on Saturday to meet a car with 62 thousand doses of vaccine provided to Transnistria free of charge by Russia. State Duma deputy Artem Turov, who delivered the cargo, said that “the vaccine was handed over to the citizens of the Transnistria region on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with the assistance of many officials who empathize with the people of Transnistria.”

Krasnoselsky stressed that “the arrived batch of the Russian vaccine is the first one.”

“There are preliminary agreements on subsequent ones. I hope that by the fall, most of the republic's residents wishing to be vaccinated against COVID-19 will have such an opportunity,” he emphasized.

According to the Tiraspol leader, “the main principle of vaccination is age-related and when it’s the turn of his age category, he will be vaccinated.”
