MOLDOVAN AMBASSADOR TO USA BELIEVES THAT SPECIAL FUND IS NEEDED FOR COUNTRY REINTEGRATION

21 march, 2024

For the reintegration of Moldova, a special fund is needed, similar to the one in South Korea, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the United States Viorel Ursu said on RLIVE TV on Wednesday evening. He believes that Moldova citizens could contribute to such a fund as well as external partners.

The diplomat says that the frozen Transnistrian conflict is not an obstacle to Moldova's accession to the EU.

“I believe that the conflict will not become an obstacle to our European integration. I think this will be a factor that will help us. Companies export to the EU. They benefit from the Moldova-EU Association Agreement, free trade, and they will benefit even more when we integrate into the regulatory framework of the European Union,” the ambassador noted.

According to him, Moldova must be prepared for the costs of reintegration, “which must be covered by citizens living on both banks of the Dniester.”
